Screen Capture - Privacy and Limited Liability Policy
Last updated June 1, 2026
MultiTEL Screen Capture (the "Extension") records a user-selected screen and optional microphone or system audio. Recording, preview, and trimming occur locally on the user's device. MultiTEL does not operate a back-end service for the Extension and does not collect or transmit recordings or Extension analytics.
Information the Extension accesses
- Screen content: captured only after the user starts a recording through the browser's screen-sharing prompt. The Extension does not access the screen in the background.
- Audio: captured only when the user enables audio and grants the required permission.
- Local files: recordings are saved to Downloads or a folder selected by the user through the File System Access API.
- Local settings and history: preferences and history entries are stored in Chrome storage on the user's device and can be cleared from the Extension.
Use, storage, and sharing
Video and audio streams are used only to produce a recording or local preview and are stored locally on the user's device. Optional trimming uses the bundled FFmpeg component in the browser. The Extension does not upload recordings to MultiTEL or share them with a third party.
Permissions
- tabs, scripting, and activeTab: display the recording controls after the user starts the Extension;
- offscreen: continue an active recording if the popup closes;
- downloads: save a recording or open a save prompt; and
- storage: remember local settings and history.
User choices
Users may start or stop recording, disable audio, clear Extension history, delete local recordings, control browser microphone and screen permissions, choose a storage location, or remove the Extension.
Third-party component
The Extension bundles FFmpeg under its applicable license for in-browser trimming. Attribution information is included in the Extension package.
Responsible use and limited liability
Users are responsible for obtaining any consent required to capture, process, store, or share audio or video and for complying with applicable law, platform rules, and contractual obligations. The Extension is provided "as is" and is subject to the disclaimers and limitations in the Terms of Service and Limitation of Liability policy, except where applicable law provides a non-waivable right or remedy.
